Make raised letters and shapes on index cards to use for tracing with the index finger.

What's needed

index cards

colored glue or puffy fabric paint

sand, bird seed, beans, or rice

Let's make it

Pre-write letters or shapes on cards and have your child trace over them with glue or paint in squeeze bottle to form the letters or shapes. Little ones may need a bit of help. Then can cover glue with sand, bird seed, beans, or rice. Let dry.

Help your child trace letters and numbers from top to bottom and from left to right.
