Gluten-free Cornstarch Paint

This recipe makes about 4 cups of gluten-free paint.

What's needed

1/2 cup cornstarch (gluten-free)

1/2 cup cold water

4 cups boiling water

Natural food coloring

Natural flavored extracts

Let's make it

Measure cornstarch into saucepan. Add cold water to cornstarch and stir to make a smooth paste. Stir in boiling water. Place saucepan over medium-low heat and stir until boiling. Boil 1 minute; remove from heat. Cool. Spoon about cup of thickened cornstarch mixture into each container, using a different cup for each color. For each color, stir in food coloring and extract into cornstarch mixture. If paint is too thick, stir in 1 teaspoon water at a time until desired consistency is achieved. Store in refrigerator.

When mixing paint, keep in mind the age of your young artist. As a general rule, younger children require thicker paint and brushes. Adjust water as necessary for your child.
