We want a baby or we are having a baby

Parents

First of all congratulations!

Pregnancy, birth, and early childhood are times of particular vulnerability for your precious yet-to-be-born child. The nervous, immune, and digestive systems are developing rapidly and the body is exposed to the world for the first time.

When do we need to practice a higher level of vigilance and willingness to act?

  • Mom has higher vulnerability to toxins and infections, genetically and/or acquired through exposure.
    • Allergies, immune problems, hormone problems, gastrointestinal disorders, and chemical and/or environmental sensitivities.
  • Mom has high toxic exposures.
  • Learning challenges run in the family.
  • Autoimmune disease runs in the family.
    • Hypothyroid disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, celiac disease.

So what should I do 3 years before conception?

  • Optimize your detoxification systems. Talk to your doctor about chelation therapy, if needed.
  • Optimize your sleep habits.
  • Have dental work done. Replace or remove any mercury containing amalgams you plan to.
  • Lose any weight desired. Toxins are stored in fat. As it is broken down, they are released into the bloodstream. Eat plenty of fiber to help carry them out of your body.

So what should I do 6 to 12 months before conception?

  • Optimize your vitamin and mineral levels (especially vitamin D).
  • Get caught up on vaccinations.
  • Maintain your detoxification systems.

So what should I do now we are expecting?

  • Maintain your detoxification systems.
  • Eat high-fiber, high-nutrient-density diet with lots of multicolored vegetables and fruits, whole grains, and antibiotic-free meats.
  • Maintain healthy vitamin and mineral levels (folic acid, essential fatty acids, and vitamin D, vitamin B12, zinc, and selenium).
  • Eat low pesticide or organic vegetables and fruits.
  • Eat low mercury fatty fish or use doctor recommended filtered Omega-3 supplements.
  • Avoid as many environmental toxins as possible.
  • Stay away from mold.
  • Use green household products, especially cosmetics and cleaners.
  • Do not remodel your home. It releases stuff trapped in the walls, and introduce new chemicals into your environment.
